Missouri Meerschaum Wizard Cobbit Corn Cob Pipe

The Wizard Cobbit is a showpiece pipe and the largest of the Missouri Meerschaum Cobbit churchwarden style collection. The Wizard Cobbit has a unique deep bowl that will hold a lot of tobacco for a long relaxing smoke. It is surprisingly light and well balance for such a big pipe and is free standing when not in use and easy to hold when in use.Finished in a nice dark stain with a long slender vulcanite mouthpiece, as with all premium cob pipes the bowl has a hard wood plug. A stunning pipe that Gandalf himself would have been proud to own.The Missouri Corn Cob pipes remain popular today because they are inexpensive and require no difficult “break-in” period like briar pipes. Made from naturally dried corn cobs, they deliver the warm, mellow qualities corn cob pipes are known for, with a porous structure that naturally absorbs moisture for a cooler, drier smoke.
Missouri Corn Cob pipes are equally valued by both learners, and experienced smokers who simply desire a cool, clean smoke. Pipe smokers who wish to sample a wide variety of different tobaccos and blends also might keep a stock of corncobs on hand to permit them to try new flavours without “carryover” from an already-used pipe.
The cob may show some chipping on its rim over time this is a normal trait of natural corn-cob construction and doesn’t affect performance. Also note due to the natural materials used, the finish of each pipe may vary slightly.

History…The Missouri Meerschaum Company is a tobacco smoking pipe manufacturer located in Washington, Missouri. It is the world’s oldest and largest manufacturer of corncob pipes.
The company was founded in 1869 when Dutch-American woodworker Henry Tibbe began producing corncob pipes and selling them in his shop. Tibbes likened the pipes to meerschaum pipes and thus named them “Missouri Meerschaum.” In 1878 Tibbe patented his method of fireproofing the pipes by applying a plaster-like substance to the outside of the cob. In 1883 Tibbe and his son Anton applied for a U.S. Patent to trademark their Missouri Meerschaum pipe. In 1907 H. Tibbe & Son Co. became the Missouri Meerschaum Company.
